Description

The CoreV assesses an individual's ability to read, understand and reason with generic verbal information. This test is suited to any role where reasoning with written information is a required competency. The test is not specific to any industry or role in particular therefore the CoreV can be used universally as a measure of verbal reasoning.

The test consists of 36 multiple-choice questions based on passages of text containing information from a range of job roles and industries.

Here is an example of the type of passage of information you might see in the CoreV:

Example: Taxi Driver

At Unique Cars, taxi drivers must always pull over for anybody who hails down the car, however this is only when the taxi light is lit. Just because a taxi has been hailed, does not mean the driver can pick the passenger up from exactly that position, this depends on the road markings and signs. The driver has the right to refuse the fare should it be over 15 miles away, or will take over one hour to reach the destination. Otherwise, the taxi driver must pick up each customer providing they have adequate means of payment and are not behaving in an offensive or unruly manner. If this behaviour develops during the journey the driver has the right to terminate the fare.

1. Which of these statements is true?

  1. If hailed, a taxi must pick up the passenger from exactly their position.
  2. Under no circumstances can a driver terminate a fare mid journey.
  3. A taxi driver does not need to pull over if the taxi light is off.
  4. If the fare is below 15 miles the taxi driver can refuse the fare.
